OurTime review: login help, real costs, and the renewal problem

The biggest member pool over 50 anywhere, which genuinely matters outside the large cities. It also has the worst billing reputation of anything we cover, and that is not a small footnote.

6.2OUT OF 10

The short version

OurTime is owned by Match Group and has the largest membership of any 50+ dating site. In a smaller city that is often the only thing that matters, and it is a real advantage over the smaller platforms.

Against that sits a pattern of billing complaints serious enough that we cannot recommend it without warning you first. Users repeatedly report being charged after cancelling, being routed into discount offers instead of a cancellation screen, and receiving notifications of likes and messages that turn out to be empty. There is no photo verification. Free members cannot message at all.

Worth using if you go in with your eyes open, cancel the auto-renewal the day you subscribe, and check your bank statement the following month. Not worth using casually.

How this review was put together. It draws on OurTime’s own published material, its app store listings, and published independent reviews and aggregated customer feedback. It is not based on our own paid account. Pricing on this platform varies more by region and promotion than anything else we cover, so treat every figure as a guide and read the checkout total.

OurTime login and sign in

Most people searching for this brand want their account rather than a review, so this section goes first and answers it properly.

For OurTime login, go to ourtime.com and use the sign in link at the top of the page, or open the OurTime app on iPhone or Android. Searches for ourtime sign in, our time dating and ourtime.com login all land at the same screen. You need the email address you registered with and your password. The same credentials work on the website and the app.

  • Forgotten your OurTime login password. Use the forgot password link on the sign in page. The reset email can take several minutes and often lands in spam or promotions.
  • The site says your details are wrong. Usually this means a different email address than the one you registered with. Try any others you may have used, including one connected through Facebook if you signed up that way.
  • Signed in but cannot message anyone. You are on the free account. Browsing is free, messaging is not. That is by design rather than a fault.
  • How to log out of OurTime. On the website, open the menu beside your profile photo and choose log out. In the app it sits under settings. If you share a device, log out rather than just closing the tab.
  • OurTime profile edit. Open My Account, then Profile. Photos, your headline and your search preferences are all edited from there.
  • OurTime customer service. Contact runs through the help section inside your account. Several reviewers note that reaching a person is harder than it should be, so keep a record of anything you send.

Is OurTime free?

You can register, build a profile and browse other members without paying. What you cannot do is send a message, and that is the whole service.

The free tier is genuinely useful for one thing, and it is the thing most people skip. Before you pay anything, set your real age range and radius and count how many active members come back. On OurTime that number is usually higher than on any other 50+ platform, and that is the single strongest argument for using it.

How much does OurTime cost?

More variably than anything else we cover. Published and reported figures include roughly $29.96 a month paying month to month, around $17.96 a month on a six month term, and as low as about $12.99 a month on a twelve month term. Other reviewers have reported initial premium access at $37.99 and totals climbing toward $89.99 depending on plan and add-ons.

The spread is wide because pricing varies by state, by promotion and by what the site decides to show you. Do not trust any figure in a review, including this one. Read the checkout total before you confirm.

Payment can be made by card, PayPal, or by posting a check or money order, which is unusual and genuinely helpful for anyone who would rather not put a card into a dating site.

The renewal and cancellation problem

This is the reason for the score, so it gets its own section rather than a line in a list.

Subscriptions renew automatically by default. That is normal. What is not normal is the volume of consistent complaints about what happens when people try to stop it. Customer reviews repeatedly describe being charged after cancelling before the renewal date, being routed into discount offers rather than a cancellation confirmation, and finding the process confusing enough that they believed they had cancelled when they had not.

Some users also report notifications of likes and messages that turn out to be empty once they log in. We cannot verify how widespread that is, but it appears often enough in published customer feedback to be worth knowing before you pay.

If you subscribe, do these three things. Turn off auto-renewal the same day. Save the confirmation number and end date it gives you. Check your bank statement the following month rather than assuming it went through.

What works

  • The largest member pool of any 50+ platform, which matters most outside big cities.
  • Backed by Match Group, so the site and apps are properly maintained.
  • Genuinely easy to use. Signup takes five to ten minutes and needs no technical confidence.
  • Free browsing lets you check local member numbers before paying.
  • Payment by PayPal, check or money order as well as by card.
  • You can state what you are looking for, including friendship or travel companionship rather than romance.

What doesn’t

  • Persistent customer complaints about being charged after cancelling.
  • No photo verification, which is a real gap on a platform this large.
  • Free members cannot message, so the free tier is a preview rather than a trial.
  • Users report match suggestions well outside their stated distance and age filters.
  • Reported notifications of likes and messages that turn out to be empty.
  • Customer service is difficult to reach.
  • Pricing varies so widely that comparison is genuinely hard.

Is OurTime any good for an age gap?

Less bad than SilverSingles for this, and still not what it is built for.

OurTime does not run a compatibility algorithm that actively steers you toward your own decade. It is a search and browse platform, so your filters do more of the work. Anyone over 18 can register, and while the great majority of members are over 50, the age spread is wider than on questionnaire-based platforms.

What that means in practice is that a ten or fifteen year gap is realistic here. Twenty five is not, because the members are simply not there in numbers. If a wide gap is the point, start with our ranking of age gap dating sites instead.

How to cancel OurTime

  1. Log in and open My Account.
  2. Find the subscription or membership settings and turn off automatic renewal.
  3. Answer the questions it asks and choose Continue Cancellation rather than accepting a discount offer.
  4. Save the confirmation number and the end date it shows you.

If you subscribed inside the iPhone or Android app, the billing runs through Apple or Google and you must cancel in your device subscription settings instead. Cancelling on the website will not stop an app store charge.

Cancelling is separate from deleting. Your profile stays until you use Remove my profile, and you keep full membership until the paid term runs out, after which you drop to a free account.

Staying safe on it

No photo verification on a platform this large means more room for fake profiles, and the FBI has reported elder fraud complaints rising year on year. Romance scams target exactly this demographic.

Never send money, gift cards or bank details to anyone, whatever the reason and however long you have been talking. Be wary of anyone who wants to move to WhatsApp or email in the first few messages. Ask for a video call before you invest real time in someone, and treat reluctance as an answer.

How it compares

Against SilverSingles, OurTime is cheaper, larger and easier to search, but SilverSingles is better run on billing and verifies profiles manually. If you want a partner near your own age, SilverSingles is the better product and OurTime is the better pool.

Against AgeMatch, they are not really competitors. AgeMatch is built for a wide gap and OurTime is built for the over-50s meeting each other.

Our guide to older dating sites explains where each of these fits.

The verdict

If you live somewhere the smaller platforms are empty, OurTime is probably the only 50+ site with enough members near you to be worth trying, and that is a genuine reason to use it.

Go in prepared. Use the free account to count who is actually nearby, take the shortest sensible term rather than the cheapest monthly rate, turn off auto-renewal immediately, keep the confirmation, and check your statement. Handled that way it is a reasonable option. Handled casually it is the platform most likely to still be charging you in six months.

Judy, and the Dating App Critic team

Founder and editor

I started this site after watching my father go quiet. He was in his sixties, still walking five miles most mornings, still the first one up, still curious about everything. The women he was introduced to were at a different stage of life, settled in ways he was not, and the conversations rarely went anywhere. He was not looking for a bridge partner. He wanted someone with the same appetite for the day that he had.

He tried three dating sites and gave up on all three, having paid for two of them. That is the part I could not let go. Not that it was hard, but that nobody had told him which ones were worth his money before he spent it.

So we write the reviews I wish he had been able to read. We say when a platform is thin, when the pricing is misleading, and when a site is simply the wrong tool for a wide age gap, even when saying so costs us a commission.

Questions people ask

How do I log in to OurTime?

Go to ourtime.com and use the sign in link at the top, or open the OurTime app. The same email address and password work on both.

How do I cancel OurTime and stop it charging me?

Log in, open My Account, turn off automatic renewal, and choose Continue Cancellation rather than accepting a discount offer. Save the confirmation number and end date.
