This site is for adults

DatingAppCritic reviews dating services for people aged 18 and over, and we do not match anyone under that age. If you are under 18, please close this page. If you need someone to talk to, a trusted adult or a local youth helpline is the right place to start.

Why no contact form. A form means another plugin, another database table and a spam problem, and it puts an interface between you and a reply. Email goes straight to a person. If you would rather not use your own address, a throwaway one is fine, we only need somewhere to reply to.

Email

judy@datingappcritic.com

That address reaches Judy directly. There is no ticketing system, no autoresponder and no first line of support to get past. Replies usually take two to three working days, sometimes longer if a message needs research before it can be answered properly.

Corrections come first

If something on this site is wrong, tell us and it gets fixed. Prices move, platforms reposition, features get pulled. A review written six months ago can be out of date through nobody’s fault.

What we do with a correction:

  1. Check it against the platform’s current published material.
  2. Update the page.
  3. Note on the page that it was updated and what changed, rather than editing quietly and pretending the earlier version never existed.

You do not need to be polite about it. A blunt email pointing out that a price is wrong is more useful to our readers than a diplomatic one that never gets sent.

Worth emailing about

  • A price, feature or policy on a reviewed platform that has changed.
  • Something in a review that reads as unfair or that you can show is wrong.
  • A platform you think we should cover, and why.
  • Your own experience of a site we review, good or bad.
  • An accessibility problem with this site.
  • Press and media enquiries.

We cannot help with

  • Your account on a dating platform. We do not run any of them and have no access. Contact their support.
  • Billing, refunds or cancellations. Same reason. The cancellation steps are in each review.
  • Recovering money lost to a romance scam. Report it to your bank and to your national fraud service.
  • Personal dating advice or profile reviews. We are not qualified and we would be guessing.
  • Paid placement, sponsored reviews or link insertions. The answer is no, whatever the offer.

On paid placement

We get these approaches regularly, so to save everyone the exchange: we do not sell positions in rankings, we do not sell scores, we do not accept payment to add a link to an existing page, and we do not publish sponsored posts written by anyone else.

Affiliate commission is how the site is paid for and we say so openly on every page. That is a different thing from selling an opinion, and the line between them is the only asset this site has. How we are funded is set out in full on our affiliate disclosure page.

If you are struggling

Occasionally we get messages from people who are lonely rather than looking for a dating site review, and it would be wrong to answer those with a link to a platform.

We are not counsellors and cannot offer support. If you are having a hard time, speaking to your doctor or a local helpline will do more than any dating site will. In the US, the 988 Suicide and Crisis Lifeline can be reached by calling or texting 988. In Canada, 988 works the same way.

Elsewhere on the site

More about who we are and how we review on our about page, how we are funded on our affiliate disclosure page, and the current ranking of age gap dating sites.

Judy, and the Dating App Critic team

Founder and editor

I started this site after watching my father go quiet. He was in his sixties, still walking five miles most mornings, still the first one up, still curious about everything. The women he was introduced to were at a different stage of life, settled in ways he was not, and the conversations rarely went anywhere. He was not looking for a bridge partner. He wanted someone with the same appetite for the day that he had.

He tried three dating sites and gave up on all three, having paid for two of them. That is the part I could not let go. Not that it was hard, but that nobody had told him which ones were worth his money before he spent it.

So we write the reviews I wish he had been able to read. We say when a platform is thin, when the pricing is misleading, and when a site is simply the wrong tool for a wide age gap, even when saying so costs us a commission.

Questions people ask us

How do I contact DatingAppCritic?

Email judy@datingappcritic.com. It reaches Judy, who founded and edits the site, and there is no form or ticketing system in between.

Replies usually take two to three working days. Corrections are prioritised over everything else.

I have a problem with my dating site account. Can you help?

No, and we want to be clear about why. We do not operate any of the platforms we review and have no access to accounts, billing or member support.

Contact that platform’s support directly. Cancellation steps for each site we cover are written out in its individual review.

Can I pay for a review or a link?

No. We do not sell rankings, scores, sponsored posts or link insertions, at any price.

The site is funded by affiliate commission, which is disclosed on every page. Selling an opinion is a different thing, and it is the one thing that would make the rest of the site worthless.

I think a review is wrong. What happens if I tell you?

We check it against the platform’s current published material, update the page, and note on the page that it changed and what changed.

We do not edit quietly. If we got something wrong, the correction is visible.

Do you offer personal dating advice?

No. We review platforms; we are not qualified to advise on anyone’s individual situation and would only be guessing.

Our guides cover what generally works on these sites, which is as far as we can honestly go.
